3 Most Sexist Movies of All Time

Sexism, as the dictionary defines it, is the behavior of someone who appears discriminatory toward one sex, either male or more commonly females. Most of the times, it is the ingrained and institutionalized prejudice against women. Sexism can be found in all workplaces, and Hollywood is no stranger to this if we look at this list of most sexist movies of all time. You can watch some of these sexist movies on Netflix or Amazon Prime or Hulu.

Straw Dogs (1971)

In the scene where Charlie, played by Del Henney is in Amy’s room and as things start getting hot and heavy, she kind of rejects him but he keeps on egging. During the act, Amy does kiss him back once she gets some pleasure from it. After this, Norman also shows up and forces her to have sex with him, which is lot less amenable for her. What’s sexist here is that the scene makes the uncomfortable statement that if a woman starts enjoying it, it isn’t exactly rape. This was one of the most talked about and controversial scenes in the days that it came out on.

Pretty Woman (1990)

Starring Richard Gere as a respectable businessman and Julia Roberts as Vivian, a hooker, this movie turns out to be sexist in some scenes. It shows the hard life of a hooker and shows Vivian being respected only when she’s worn fine clothes and jewelry and walk the lady-way and everything which woman are ‘assumed’ to do. The manager of the hotel in which they’re staying, the women at the shop sees them as unwomanly. Kind of Prince Charming for Vivian, Richard.

Gigli (2003)

Gigli was a massive flop at the box-office despite Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez starring in it. JLo played a lesbian character who eventually falls in love with her co-worker and later the two have sex in the movie. It’s remarkably sexist here that even the lesbians are not sure about their sexual orientation and what they are waiting for is the right penis to set them straight.
